About the Indoor Cycling Certification

In recent years, there has been an upward trend in indoor cycling classes, and it is not difficult to see why, as it offers a range of benefits, including weight loss, endurance building and improved strength.

It is also a great way in which to improve cardiovascular health; similar to other forms of cardio, such as swimming or running; with the added bonus of not putting too much stress on the joints.

The purpose of this course is to educate fitness instructors on the various elements of indoor cycling. This includes the function of the primary muscles used and the prevention of, and recovery from, the common injuries that can occur with them.

It is important for fitness instructors to understand the differences between correct and incorrect posture; especially when it comes to cycling; and the potentially harmful effects of common bad habits.

Equally important is to understand the aerobic and anaerobic energy systems and how these can be combined through exercise, to optimise the body's fitness and overall health.

  • What constitutes a healthy lifestyle, and how unhealthy choices affect the body
  • The classification, structure and function of muscles
  • The importance of correct posture, and the effect that it can have on exercise
